The Masbate Young Professionals for Development (MAUPOD) congratulates the University of the Philippines in its 100 years of existence. As UP celebrates its centennial, MAUPOD also reflects on Masbateño professionals who are products of this premier university in the country.

There are countless scholars who went through UP during their college days. Many of them had fruitful memories in the University, had productive days in the campus and had insurmountable achievements in their own rights. Masbateños in the name of Supreme Court Associate Justice Leonardo Quisumbing served as chairperson of the UP Student Council and editor-in-chief of the Philippine Collegian, UP’s official publication; former congressman and Masbate governor Emilio R. Espinosa also served as chaiman of the UP Student Council; Ambassador Antonio P. Villar of the Lindon of Saudi Arabia and Republic of Yemen; and others who excelled in academics and finished their courses with honors, are just few of the remarkable achievements of Masbateños in UP.

No doubt that UP moulded these outstanding men and women of Masbate to what they are right now. No doubt that UP trains the best minds in the country and students have the access to the best minds in the country – from the faculty who are national artists, prize-winning writers, renowned scientists and scholars, and outstanding leaders. No doubt that Masbateños who earned their education from UP are now contributing to the development of the Province of Masbate and are productive members of Philippine Society.

In the advent of UP Centennial Celebration, the MAUPOD extends its warmest greetings and felicitations to the leading state university and the premier institution of learning in the Philippines.

Mabuhay ang University of the Philippines! Mabuhay ang Masbateño professionals!
